Below are the eligibility requirements set by the FAA to be eligible to test for the Certified Flight Instrument Multi-Engine CFI-AIM practical test:

Hold an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate
Hold an FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate
Pass an FAA Practical Test (Oral and Flight)

Below is the minimum required aeronautical experience set forth by the FAA:

Obtain proficiency and receive endorsement from an authorized instructor
3 hours of practical test preparation
