Below are the eligibility requirements set by the FAA to be eligible to test for the Certified Flight Instrument Multi-Engine CFI-AIM practical test: 

  • Hold an FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate
  • Hold an FAA Certified Flight Instructor Certificate
  • Pass an FAA Practical Test (Oral and Flight)

Below is the minimum required aeronautical experience set forth by the FAA:

  • Obtain proficiency and receive endorsement from an authorized instructor
  • 3 hours of practical test preparation
